site.btaA Fifth Place in Final A, Two Olympic Slots for Bulgaria from European Rowing Championships
Bulgaria's Desislava Angelova came in fifth in Final A of the women's single sculls event at the 2024 European Rowing Championships in Szeged on Sunday. She took the 2,000 m distance in 8:45.71 min. Angelova was in fourth position during the first half of the race, but eventually slipped to fifth.
The title was won by Jovana Arsic of Serbia, who clocked 8:23.42 min. Second and third place went to Alexandra Foester (Germany) and Alice Prokesova (Czechia), respectively, on 8:28.16 min and 8:34.97 min of rowing time.
Earlier on Sunday, Emil Neykov finished third in Final B of the men's single sculls event at the European Rowing Championships.
Yet another Bulgarian, Kristian Vasilev, earned an Olympic slot for Paris 2024 after he was ranked second in Final A of the men's single sculls event of the Qualification Regatta, also held in Szeged.
Vassilev's Olympic slot is the second one for Bulgaria. The first one was gained by Angelova.
