Bosnia and Herzegovina's Davis Cup team took a 2-0 lead in the tie against Bulgaria in Burgas on Saturday. If Bulgaria wins, it will remain in Davis Cup World Group I, and if it loses, it will be relegated to World Group II. The doubles match is scheduled to take place at 2 pm on Sunday, followed by the next two singles matches.

In the first singles match on Saturday, Bulgaria's second highest ranked male player Dimitar Kuzmanov (world No. 225) lost 6-3 3-6 4-6 to world No. 204 Nerman Fatic.

Yanaki Milev (world No. 550) lost 3-6 2-6 to former world No. 23 Damir Dzumhur, who is currently No. 147 in the ATP rankings.

Bulgaria's top ranked male player Grigor Dimitrov (No. 13) and the country's third best ranked best player Adrian Andreev (No. 261) are not part of the Davis Cup team.

In February 2023 Bulgaria qualified for World Group I for the first time since the format changes of the competition, after winning against New Zealand in a qualifier. The last time the Bulgarian national team was part of the second tier of Davis Cup was in 1988 when it was called Group I.

In September 2023 Bulgaria lost 1-3 to Kazakhstan.
