Bulgarian boxers achieved excellent results on Monday, the first day of the finals of the Balkan Championships for men and women in Albena. The Bulgarian athletes won four gold medals from five bouts.

Yasen Radev got things off to a successful start with an excellent match against Ukraine's Yelmir Nabiiev in the bantamweight ranking. Radev recorded a 5:0 win - 29:28, 29:28, 30:27, 29:28, 30:27.

Javier Ibanez won over Ukraine's Ajder Abduraimov in the featherweight ranking with a 5:0 - 30:27, 30:27, 29:28, 29:28, 30:27.

Bulgarians Radoslav Rosenov and Kristiyan Nikolov also won their bouts for the gold, while William Cholov lost his final to Serbian Jovan Nikolic in the 75kg ranking with 1:4 - 27:30, 27:30, 28:29, 27:30, 29:28).

Stanimira Petrova also won silver after she failed to show up for her final against Ukrainian Svitlana Umanska due to health issues.

Six more finals with Bulgarian participation are scheduled for Tuesday.
