Bulgaria's national tennis team is losing 0:2 against Kazakhstan in the tie between the two teams from World Group I of the Davis Cup tournament, an unofficial world team tennis championship for men.

In the first singles match, the country's top player, Dimitar Kuzmanov, was defeated by Kazakhstani Timofey Skatov with 6:3, 4:6, 3:6 in 2:47 hours, after experiencing stomach discomfort at the end of the second and the beginning of the third set.

In the second singles match, Yanaki Milev lost to world's 29th ranked player Kazakhstani Alexander Bublik by 4:6, 1:6 in 68 minutes. The Bulgarian, making his competitive debut, played a strong first set and had a break point at 4-4. Bublik, however, responded with an ace, and then managed for the first time to break Milev's pass with 6:4. In the second set, the Kazakh dominated, took the pass of the national player twice and closed the match after 6:1.

The nationals were supported by their fans, who filled the courts of the Bulgarian National Tennis Centre in Borisova Garden to the limit, but Kazakhstan also had their supporters.

The Davis Cup programme on Sunday will start at 11 am with doubles matches, when Alexander Lazarov and Alexander Donski will face off against Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Andrey Golubev. Next will come the singles matches between the first rackets Kuzmanov vs. Bublik, and then Milev vs. Skatov.
