Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov said here on Friday that vaccination is the last resort that the State should offer when farm animals are faced with sheep pox or goat pox. Tahov was speaking at the opening of the reconstructed main canal M-1, part of the Trakiets irrigation network in Haskovo.

The Minister shared that a full analysis of the industry revealed that most farmers are unwilling to have their animals vaccinated. The Ministry will come up with an expert decision at the start of the coming week.

Six agricultural organizations are staging a protest on Friday in Sofia under the motto "In Defence and Support of Bulgarian Production!". Their goal is to demand transparency, fair and functional regulations, the removal of discriminatory support mechanisms, and guarantees for free market and food security.
