Compensations are foreseen and are ready to be paid, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said, commenting on the outbreak of plague in small ruminants in a breeding facility in Velingrad. "There is also a political element. You can all see it if you follow the events. If this outbreak is not contained, it poses a danger to everyone around," Glavchev said.
Agriculture and Food Minister Georgi Tahov continues the talks with the affected farmers. Various options are being looked at, including taking an unprecedented third sample to be sure, the Prime Minister said.
He pointed out that there is a possibility for the third samples to be sent to a laboratory in Montpellier, France. No extreme measures are envisaged, the idea is to reassure people, the Prime Minister said.
Smallpox outbreaks in small ruminants have been destroyed. In Yambol, owners of culled animals have been paid compensation. The procedure has been set in motion for the other destroyed outbreaks. The money has been provided and is available.
