The ban on exporting insulin and antibiotics designed for regular use by children has been extended until October 21, the Health Ministry said. The extension takes effect on September 20, as the current ban expires on Thursday.

Data from the Bulgarian Drug Agency and Regional Health Inspectorates point to persistent issues with irregular or delayed supply of the above-mentioned medicinal products or deliveries refused by wholesale warehouses, which makes it difficult for both pharmacies and patients to access these medicines, the Ministry added.

The purpose of the ban is to secure sufficient quantities of the medicines and meet the needs of Bulgarian patients.
