There were 150,000 loans to Non-financial corporations at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 decreasing by 0.4% on an annual basis, the Bulgarian National Bank said in a release on Thursday. Their total amount was BGN 44.698 billion marking a 7.6% increase on an annual basis. Compared to the previous quarter the number of loans to Non-financial corporations decreased by 0.4% while their amount rose by 2.3%.
The three economic activities with the largest share in the total amount of loans to the sector were Trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (28.3%), Manufacturing (21.2%) and Real estate activities (10.3%).
At the end of December 2023 the loans over BGN 1 million had the largest share (75.2%) in the total amount of loans.
There were 1,013 loans to financial corporations at the end of Q4 of 2023 increasing by 7.3% on an annual basis. Their amount was BGN 7.573 billion, which was a 26.3% annual rise. Compared to the end of the previous quarter the number of loans to the Financial corporations sector increased by 2.4% and their amount – by 2.7%.
At the end of December 2023 the loans over BGN 1 million had a 98.9% share in the total amount of loans to the sector.
At the end of December 2023 the number of loans to Households and Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (NPISH) decreased annually by 0.5% reaching 2.816 million. Their amount rose by 15.9% on an annual basis reaching BGN 38.396 billion.
Compared to September 2023 the number of these loans declined by 1.3% while their amount rose by 4%.
At the end of December 2023 the loans between BGN 100,000 and BGN 250,000 had the largest share (27%) in the total amount of loans to the sector.
At the end of December 2023 the loans over BGN 1 million had a 98.9% share in the total amount of loans to the sector.
The number of loans to Non-financial corporations, Financial corporations, Households and NPISHs decreased by 0.5% on an annual basis at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 while their amount rose by 12.4%.
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 the number of deposits to Non-financial corporations, Financial corporations, Households and NPISHs increased by 0.3% on an annual basis and their amount – by 9.5%.
There were 624,000 deposits of the Non-financial corporations sector at the end of December 2023, which was a 1.1% increase, compared to the same month of 2022. At the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 these deposits amounted to BGN 43.829 billion marking a 9% annual increase. Compared to September 2023 their number rose by 0.8% and their amount – by 3.5%.
The three economic activities with the largest shares in the total amount of deposits of the sector were Trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (24.2%), Manufacturing (15.4%) and Construction (10.6%).
At the end of December 2023 the deposits over BGN 1 million had the largest share (58.8%) in the total amount of deposits.
At the end of September 2023 there were 7,515 deposits of the Financial corporations sector which was an increase of 4.9% in comparison with the same month of 2022. At the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 they amounted to BGN 3.726 billion decreasing by 11.6% on an annual basis. Compared to September 2023 their number rose by 1.6% and their amount – by 10.1%.
At the end of December 2023 the deposits over BGN 1 million held the biggest share (87.5%) in the total amount of deposits.
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 there were 8.916 million deposits of the Households and NPISHs sector, which was an annual increase of 0.2%. At the end of December 2023 the amount of these deposits increased by 11% on an annual basis reaching BGN 79.984 billion. Compared to the previous quarter the number of deposits increased by 0.6% and their amount – by by 4.6%.
At the end of December 2023, the deposits between BGN 50,000 and BGN 100,000 formed the largest share (18.4%) of the total amount of deposits.
