Within the framework of his participation in the second round of the Strategic Dialogue between Bulgaria and the United States at the State Department, Energy Minister Rumen Radev met with Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt, Radev's ministry said Tuesday.
During the meeting, Radev presented the main directions for the development of the energy sector in Bulgaria until 2050. Major challenges in the region were highlighted, but also the high importance of initiatives to ensure short-term stability through energy connectivity and cooperation, and the prospects for long-term sustainability through the development of new capacity and energy infrastructure.
Both sides confirmed their interest in joint initiatives in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, the development of a mix of renewable energy and energy storage capacities, and interconnectivity in the region in terms of natural gas and electricity supply.
