Government, Tourism Industry to Work Towards Transparency

The government and the tourism industry are launching an active dialogue to make the sector more transparent, the government press office said on Thursday. The Tourism Ministry, together with industry representatives and the Finance Ministry, will work out concrete measures to ensure that hotel and restaurant owners, who are building Bulgaria's image as a tourist destination, do not suffer unfair competition due to unfair practices.

At Thursday's meeting of Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov with representatives of the hotel and restaurant business, it was agreed to draw up an agreement between the government and the sector after discussing and shaping concrete proposals. Tourism Minister Zaritza Dinkova and Finance Minister Assen Vassilev also took part in the talks.

During the meeting, the hoteliers and restauranteurs shared a number of problems accumulated over the years that prevent them from working peacefully. PM Denkov stressed that the biggest potential for improvement is where the biggest problems are. "If you propose solutions that are meaningful, we will discuss them and implement them," he said.
