The Government relieved Boris Mihailov of his duties as Executive Director of the National Revenue Agency and reinstated Rumen Spetsov, who headed the agency under the Kiril Petkov cabinet. The decision was taken by the newly-elected regular cabinet at its first meeting Wednesday, the Government information service said. 

Mihailov was dismissed on grounds of worsening VAT revenue collection.

Spetsov is an expert with many years of experience at0 the National Revenue Agency and in the field of tax policy and legislation, as well as the protection of national security, the Government information service said. He graduated from the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov with degrees in Economics and Trade and Internal Financial Control, and from the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, specialized in National Security Protection. In 2001-2015 he held various expert and managerial positions at the National Revenue Agency. His professional experience is related to analysis and investigation of tax fraud, risk assessment of commercial sectors, joint work with the State Agency for National Security, prosecution and foreign partner organizations and services. From May 2021 to August 2022, he held the position of Executive Director of the National Revenue Agency in the regular government with Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.
