A stable banking sector is a factor for successfully overcoming the crises, President Rumen Radev said when he met on Monday with representatives of the board of directors of Eurobank Group. Petia Dimitrova, CEO and Chair of the Board of Postbank, a subsidiary of the banking group, also took part in the talks, the press service of the head of State reported.
Bulgaria and Greece are an example of good-neighbourliness and strategic partnership in our region and are constantly working to expand bilateral relations, the participants in the meeting concurred. The President highlighted the Bulgarian-Greek cooperation in economy, energy and tourism, to which the banking sector also contributes.
The representatives of the board of directors of Eurobank Group, who are in Sofia to hold a board meeting for the first time outside Greece, pointed out that Bulgaria is among the main markets of the banking group and underlined their readiness to expand their activities in Bulgaria. Energy, tourism, digital and infrastructure connectivity were highlighted as promising areas.
Among the topics discussed was the state of the European economy against the backdrop of the challenges that the countries of the continent are facing. Europe must work to preserve its competitiveness and economic viability, President Radev stressed.
