In 2021, there were 30.1 million enterprises employing 155 million people in the European Union. Micro and small enterprises, employing up to 49 people, accounted for 99 % (or 29.9 million) of all enterprises, together providing a livelihood for 75.3 million people (49 % of total employment), show the latest figures from the European statistics agency Eurostat
