site.bta100th Annual International Festival at Kada Boaz Pass Kicks Off


The 100th edition of the annual international festival at the Kada Boaz Pass was officially opened. Serbian Ambassador of to Bulgaria Milan Ravic and Bulgaria’s Consul General in Nis Alexander Ganchev were official guests at the opening. The Mayor of Belogradchik, Boyan Minkov, and the Chairman of the Municipal Council in Knjazevac, Marko Stojanovic, welcomed the participants and guests. Metropolitan Pahomii of Vidin performed a festive blessing ceremony.
The Bulgarian-Serbian border at Salash (Belogradchik municipality) and Novo Korito (Knjazevac municipality) is open for crossing from July 18 to 20 from 10 am to 11 pm.
“Whatever politicians in Serbia and Bulgaria have done in the past, are doing now, and will do in the future, we, the ordinary people, are proving that we are truly one, and our two brotherly nations are proving it again today, right here, in this place,” Belogradchik Mayor Boyan Minkov said in his welcoming speech.
“Let this gathering continue to be a symbol of peace, friendship and good neighbourly relations,” said Marko Stojanovic.
According to the organizers, the Kada Boaz Pass festival is the largest cross-border event in the Balkans. It was created and is organized on the basis of the friendly relations between the municipalities of Belogradchik and Knjazevac, which have been twinned since 1968. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the festival.
