site.btaNational Theatre to Host Forum with 18 European Theatres

Eighteen theatres from Europe are gathering at the National Theatre “Ivan Vazov”, the institution reported Tuesday. The project was initiated by the theatre of Liege (Belgium) and is part of the Creative Europe programme of the European Commission.

Partners include the Avignon International Theatre Festival (France), the festivals in Sibiu (Romania), Girona (Spain) and Dublin (Ireland), and the Schaubuhne am Leninger Platz Theatre (Germany), the national theatres in Prague (Czech Republic), Gothenburg (Sweden), Kyiv (Ukraine), Rijeka (Croatia), Onassis Centre (Greece), Emilia Romagna Foundation (Italy), Belem Cultural Centre (Portugal).

The first official meeting within the forum will be held in Sofia from January 31 to February 2. This event underlines the key role of Bulgaria as an active participant in the cultural and theatrical exchange on the continent, the release says.
