The Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York initiative marked the beginning of its 20th concert season with a gala performance at Carnegie Hall, the Consulate General of Bulgaria in New York told BTA.

Performers Mariana Karpatova (mezzo-soprano), Moran Katz (clarinet), Georgi Valchev, Stani Dimitrova and Alexandrina Boyanova (violin), Ari Evan (cello), Laura Al-Ahmad, Anna Stoycheva and Lora Tchekoratova (piano) performen musical pieces by a number of composers, including Pancho Vladigerov and Laura Al-Ahmad, a member of the initiative's community and a Sunday school teacher.

At the beginning of the concert, the audience was welcomed by Lora Tchekoratova, co-founder of the project, who thanked all those who have helped make this iconic initiative of the Bulgarian community in New York a reality over the past two decades.

Tchekoratova highlighted the contribution of the initiative's Advisory Board members (Pavlina Dokovska, Stefka Evstatieva, Nellie Gibson, Leanne McAllister, Pat Root, Neli Hadjiyska, Elisaveta Galabova and Ted Petrov) and thanked Bulgaria's Consul General in New York Angel Angelov for his support, as well as all the leaders of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in New York over the years.
