site.bta Ninth KvARTal Festival To Take Place September 13-15

The ninth KvARTal Festival will take place from September 13 to 15 September and is dedicated to the "The Spirit of Old Sofia". The focus will be on the period when the neighborhood, locked between the boulevards Dondukov, Maria Luisa, Slivnitsa and Vasil Levski, was built at the turn of the 20th century. Known as the commercial and bohemian quarter, where the emblematic Targovska street reached, it boasts many buildings-monuments of culture, built by prominent Bulgarians for the homes of writers, doctors, booksellers, photographers, merchants and royal guests.   

During the three days of the festival there will be eight pedestrian zones with many exhibitions, art installations, music, film screenings, city tours, creative workshops.

Among the festival’s highlights are the exhibitions "Stories Behind the Facades" in the Central Sofia Halls, in partnership with the Regional Historical Museum - Sofia, the Friday city tour "The Buildings Tell", the exhibition "Digital Restoration of Signs from Old Sofia" with designers Laura Shtirkova and Ventsislav Djokov - in the cafe at 3 Moskovska Street, "Curious Sofia"  at the Sofia Library branch at 1 Serdika Street and an exhibition located on the staircase of the same historical house to the upper floor of the Sofia Development Association - "Around the First Galleries in Sofia" by curators Ina Bostandchieva and Blagovesta Ivanova.     

The event is part of the Cultural Calendar of the Sofia Municipality for 2024.
