The Japanese Ambassador in Sofia, Michigami Hisashi, hosted at his residence the traditional annual meeting of the members of the Club "Friends of Japan in Bulgaria - Nihon Tomono Kai" and representatives of companies that support the Days of Japanese Culture in Bulgaria.

In his address to the guests at the meeting, Ambassador Hisashi Michigami highlighted the role of Nihon Tomono Kai and the sponsors of the days for promoting Japan and Japanese culture in Bulgaria, as well as for promoting bilateral friendly contacts. 

The club's annual meeting was attended by former Bulgarian ambassadors to Tokyo, Nikolai Vitanov, Atanas Semov, representatives of the clubs for tea ceremony, karate, kendo, ikebana, kiri-e, haiku, among others. 

The "Friends of Japan in Bulgaria - Nihon Tomono Kai" club was established in June 2010 as a unifying structure of Bulgarian organizations related to Japan, and since 2011 it has been the main partner of the Embassy of Japan in organizing the Days of Japanese Culture in Bulgaria and the initiator of various events that aim to promote Japanese culture and encourage bilateral exchanges between Japan and Bulgaria. Nowadays the club unites 43 organizations and 32 individual members.
