Bulgaria's Archives State Agency (ASA) will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Central State Archives by a documentary exhibition that will be opened in Sofia on June 9, International Archives Day.

The exhibits include the originals of the Tarnovo Constitution of 1879 and its amended version of 1911, the 1908 Manifesto declaring Bulgaria’s independence, the Shopov-Karadimov Psalter of the 14th c., an Italian translation of Claudius Ptolemy’s Geography of 1561, the peace treaty that ended the 1913 Second Balkan War and the Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty of 1918.

Visitors will also be able to see letters by prominent writers and public figures like Ivan Vazov, Evgenia Mars, Yana Yazova and Alexander Balabanov. Paintings and sketches by noted artists Bistra Vinarova, Siral Skitnik, Konstantin Shtarkelov and Haralambi Tachev will be on view as well.

The exhibition is the ASA’s contribution to the International Archives Week (June 5-9, 2023).
