Velichie greeted Bulgarians on National Awakeners' Day in a Facebook post Saturday. "Being an awakener is not a thing of the past. It is a battle of today," the party said. 

"Today is the day when we must remember who we are. Because today, speech is under pressure, thought is under control, and freedom is under threat," the post read.

"Our awakeners stood up against foreign powers. Today, we stand up against the betrayal of our own 'dignitaries' - those who, instead of defending the people, are selling them out," the party added.

"Velichie will not bend, will not accept blackmail, and will not sell its faith. To be an awakener today is to have the courage to say 'no' to fear," the post said.
