site.btaDeputy PM Zafirov Stresses Need for "Awakeness" as "Vivid Sense of Direction and Meaning"

In a Facebook post on National Awakeners' Day on Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Atanas Zafirov stressed the need for "awakeness - not as a memory, but as a vivid sense of direction and meaning." 

"Awakening is not only part of the past - it lives in everyone who builds, creates, and believes that Bulgaria can achieve more. We live in a time of opportunity: Bulgaria is stable, part of the European cultural space, and in this environment, knowledge, education, and spirituality can once again be at the heart of social relations," Zafirov said. "It is our duty to build trust, promote reason, and work with care for the future," he added. 

Zafirov extended his greetings to all who "continue to shine by example - teachers, artists, scientists, journalists, volunteers, and citizens with a proactive position."

"Bulgaria has a future because it has enlightened people," he said, adding that "Bulgaria will always be the country of spirit."
