The National Operational Headquarters has reported on the implementation of the Programme for Humanitarian Support of Displaced Persons from Ukraine who are Temporary Protection Beneficiaries in the Republic of Bulgaria, which has been in force since May 1, 2025, the Council of Ministers said in a press release on Friday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Chair of the Operational Headquarters Atanas Zafirov said that, at the start of the programme, 5,647 Ukrainian citizens were accommodated in designated facilities. Following assessments of eligibility for humanitarian housing assistance, 2,732 individuals currently qualify for support for the entire programme duration. These are persons belonging to vulnerable groups, including elderly people over 65, persons with permanent disabilities, and mothers with children under 12 years of age.
On April 1, 2025, the Council of Ministers adopted a decision amending and supplementing the Programme for Humanitarian Support of Displaced Persons from Ukraine who are Temporary Protection Beneficiaries in the Republic of Bulgaria, extending its duration by one month.
