Culture Minister Marian Bachev discussed the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence (AI) in a speech on Monday opening the school year at the National School of Stage and Screen Arts in Plovdiv.
Bachev said: “As AI gains ground, everyone gets to use it for their term papers and graduation theses. AI will give you opportunities but not inspiration. AI should be augmented by talent, so that the art of every student is unique, not like everyone else’s.”
He advised the students: “Never say ‘anything will do’, always be prepared to say, ‘this won’t do’. You should do things the way you feel they ought to be done and according to the highest professional standards.”
Bachev said that as the school’s 50th anniversary approaches, he realizes why it is so special. “Things of fundamental importance to us actors are born here,” he said.
The new 2025/2026 school year began on Monday in over 2,300 schools across the country, with around 57,000 first-graders, a total of over 716,000 students, and 95,500 teachers.
