Snow was falling in the two winter resorts of Borovets and Malyovitsa, with the snow cover reaching up to 20 centimetres, the Mountain Rescue Service reported to BTA on Tuesday.

Snow was falling on Vitosha as well, where poor conditions for tourism and sports were reported, as the weather remained foggy in many places. Skiers should exercise caution, mountain rescuers warned.

In Pamporovo, on the Prevala pass and in the higher parts of Smolyan Region no significant snow cover was formed, with the new snow in Pamporovo covering a few centimetres and temperatures dropping to minus five degrees, the Regional Road Administration in Smolyan and the Mountain Rescue Service in Pamporovo pointed out. Skiing conditions in Pamporovo were good, with the resort predicting that the ski season will last until April 6-10.

The snow cover on the side of the road through the Petrohan pass was reported at about five to six centimetres. The road was cleaned, sanded and made passable in these winter conditions, the officer on duty at the Montana Regional Road Administration told BTA. The Petrohan pass is the shortest route from Montana and Vidin Regions to Sofia, passing through an altitude of 1,409 metres.

The Road Infrastructure Agency pointed out that a total of 122 machines were processing the pavements of the republican road network to ensure safe travel for drivers in areas with snowfall.
