Bulgarian Socialist Party acting leader Atanas Zafirov put out a congratulatory message for Donald Trump's election victory. This victory shows "the power of democracy and the desire for a change in the world", Zafirov said in a statement circulated by the party press office Wednesday. 

He also wrote, "I take the word of the American voters as a message for change and I hope that Trump's election is that small spark that can change the historical processes and bring the peace we all need. [...] The people have had their say. Now it is time for politicians around the world to just hear it! I look forward to maintaining and developing cooperation with Bulgaria on the basis of mutual respect and consideration of the interests of both countries!"
