The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Polish state-owned company Wojskowe Zaklady Lotnicze Nr 2 S.A. for overhaul/capital replacement of six RD-33, series 2 engines for MiG-29 aircraft, the Public Procurement Register shows.

The contract stipulates that the maximum period for performing the overhaul/capital replacement on each engine will be no more than nine months from the date of delivery of the respective engine for repair. The total price for the performance of the subject-matter of the contract is EUR 10,020,000, VAT excluded. In the event of delayed or inaccurate performance, the Polish company shall pay a penalty of 0.1% of the value of the delayed service for each day of delay.

The Ministry of Defence launched a public procurement for the overhaul of six engines for MiG-29 fighter jets in early April.

In mid-August 2023, the Ministry of Defence signed another six-engine overhaul contract for MiG-29 with the Polish company. The value of the contract was EUR 9,552,000, VAT excluded.
