The police chiefs in Petrich and Sandanski, Southwestern Bulgaria have been detained, the Ministry of the Interior said here on Monday. The arrests were the result of an investigation into abuses and corrupt practices.

The National Police General Directorate and the Directorate General for authentication, control of hazardous means also participated in the detention.

The investigation is being monitored by the prosecution service in Blagoevgrad.
