President Rumen Radev said here on Wednesday that the political crisis will not find its solution, nor will a government and a parliament be formed with sufficient legitimacy and longevity, until the voter turnout in the country increases. He organised a meeting in the Presidency with representatives of the institutions responsible for preparing the October 27 parliamentary elections and ensuring the fairness of the vote.

There are different factors that influence voter turnout - the policies and actions of the parties themselves, but also to a large extent the actions of the authorities responsible for the fairness of the electoral process, Radev noted. According to the Constitution, this is the main priority in the work of the caretaker government and, accordingly, of the institutions directly responsible for the electoral process, he said.

Nothing drives citizens away from the voting booths more than evidence of a bought and controlled vote, the President said. And nothing drives citizens away from politics more than the sight they see when the representatives of this bought and controlled vote get to the Bulgarian parliament and start disposing of their fate, Radev added. He called on the institutions responsible for holding the elections and ensuring a fair vote to work to limit such events as much as possible. The public should receive timely information on what is being done regarding "this ugly phenomenon," Radev stressed.

“From the information you have provided, we understand that all necessary measures have been taken and that an organization has been set up. To what extent your actions have been effective will be seen on election day, Radev said.
