The Beautiful Science Foundation announced Friday the reinstatement of Bulgaria's participation in the FameLab competition in 2025 after a three-year hiatus. By the end of November, all partners will be confirmed, as well as the schedule of the individual stages. The national final of FameLab Bulgaria will take place on May 11, 2025, on the last day of the XV Sofia Science Festival, the Foundation said.

The FameLab International Science Communication Competition aims to discover, educate and give a platform to new voices from different fields of science and technology.

The competition was established by the Cheltenham Festival UK in 2004 by some of the country's most eminent scientists. In 2007 the competition went international through a partnership with the British Council.

In Bulgaria, the competition has been organized in cooperation with Forum Democrit and the Ministry of Education and Science since its inception in 2007, making Bulgaria one of the first of more than 35 countries around the world to organize a national competition.

By 2021, 15 editions of the competition were held in the country, it attracted over 700 and trained nearly 120 finalists from all fields of science and engineering disciplines.

The winner will participate in the International Final together with the winners of ten other countries (to date).

Participants can be science educators, researchers, engineers, people who use scientific results in their work, PhD students, industry experts, teachers, etc. In addition to science, mathematics and engineering majors, social science professionals can also participate.
