Bulgaria's Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev is leaving for the United States on Saturday for the Summit of the Future, the government information service said on Friday. The forum, which will take place in New York on September 22 and 23, is the main event during the UN General Assembly High-Level Week, which brings together state and government leaders from all over the world.
Glavchev will make statements during the plenary debate and the Interactive Dialogue: Towards a Common Digital Future: strengthening inclusive innovation and cooperation to bridge the digital divides.
During his visit, Glavchev will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian communities in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
The idea of convening the Summit and adopting a Pact for the Future was launched by the UN Secretary-General in 2021. It culminates the efforts to reform the global multilateral institutions, including the UN Security Council and the international development banks. The purpose of the Pact for the Future is to reaffirm and strengthen the commitments of States to international peace and security, sustainable development, planetary conservation and the peaceful uses of outer space.
Last week the Council of Ministers said the delegation would include Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov, Bulgaria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Lachezara Stoeva, directors and experts at the Foreign Ministry.
