site.btaPM Glavchev: Illegal Attempts to Cross Border Have Halved Y/Y

Attempts to illegally cross the border have halved compared to 2023, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said during Question Time in the National Assembly on Friday.

“We need to increase measures and protect the border as an EU border. Together with Turkiye, this is being done because it is the main place where illegal crossings take place. We are cooperating well, which does not mean that we cannot do even better,” the caretaker Prime Minister said.

From January to May 10 of 2024, a total of 12,342 illegal border crossing attempts have been registered, which is 70% less compared to the same period in 2023.
