site.btaNew Green Areas to Be Created in Place of Landfill in Vratsa

More than 27,000 square metres of new green areas will be created in place of the first two cells of the landfill for household waste in Vratsa and Mezdra, said the Vratsa Municipality on Monday. 

According to the planned cultivation activities, the main goal will be to prevent the possibility of subsequent pollution from the deposited waste. For this purpose, a system will be built to capture and remove harmful gases. Biological reclamation will be carried out as well.

After the construction of the system for removing harmful gases, an upper insulating screen will be laid, which will have several layers. During the second phase of the cultivation, conditions will be created for planting and growing plant species that will create a good soil cover, strengthen the slopes of the two cells and protect the terrain surface from erosion.

The activities will be implemented under the Operational Programme Environment 2021-2027, with a budget worth nearly BGN 2.5 million.
