International Summer Seminar on Bulgarian Language and Culture will be held between July 15 and August 4 at the University of Veliko Tarnovo, the Seminar's Deputy Director Valeria Todorova said on Thursday.

The event will be held for the 47th year, with 88 participants from three continents expected to arrive in Veliko Tarnovo, where they will be accommodated in the University's renovated student dormitories. They will have daily practical lessons, including phonetic, grammar and vocabulary exercises in Bulgarian, as well as specialised workshops for beginners and advanced students. 

For the first time, there will be classes dedicated to the traditional mythological representations of the Bulgarian people. Advanced students will participate in classes on Bulgarian fine art, modern Bulgarian language, Bulgarian folklore, modern Bulgarian cinema and Bulgarian literature. Trips to Arbanasi, the Etar Open Air Ethnographic Museum, Tryavna and the Black Sea are also planned.

Todorova noted that many participants are looking forward to the lessons of popular Bulgarian songs and folk dances under the guidance of Petar Petrov, choreographer and head of the popular Bulgarche Folk Ensemble.

Nearly 5,000 participants have participated in the forum over the years, which has become a tradition that popularizes both Bulgarian language and culture around the world, as well as Bulgaria's old capital Tarnovo as a sightseeing destination.
