Only one of seven tested water fountains in Shumen meets all required health parameters, said the Regional Health Inspection (RZI) on its website on Wednesday.

During the examination of the water sources in the town only fountain number two on the road to the village of Lozevo was found to meet all necessary regulatory health requirements, while most of the other water fountains indicated deviations in terms of microbiological indicators. "The water from these taps should not be used for drinking", said the RZI.

The results obtained are from a sampling conducted on June 18. They reflect the current state of water from local water sources and the quality of the water from them depends entirely on the weather conditions, since no additional treatment (disinfection) is carried out, added the RZI.

The water quality from seven water sources in Shumen was also examined at the end of April, establishing that the water from four public fountains had deviations in terms of microbiological indicators and should not be used for drinking.
