site.btaPolice Detain Illegal Transporters of Migrants

A specialized operation was carried out by the teams of the General Directorate Combating Organized Crime and Border Police, the Appellate Prosecutor's Office of Sofia announced on Tuesday.

Persons involved in the transportation of illegal migrants were identified and detained. Searches have been carried out. Several addresses were searched and mobile phones, illegally possessed ammunition and marijuana were seized.

At present, the accused S.D., 43, and R.K., 44, are detained for up to 72 hours by order of a prosecutor from the Vidin District Prosecutor's Office. Both of them have made confessions.

The manner in which the accused acted has been revealed - the transportation of illegal migrants from the Sofia region to the border villages of Golemanovo and Kireevo, from where they crossed into the territory of the Republic of Serbia.
