The Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) parliamentary group has tabled a draft resolution on the establishment of an ad hoc committee to look into the facts and circumstances related to the TurkStream gas pipeline and the roadmap for the project, which was missing and was later found at the mansion of Russian MPs, Venko Sabrutev MP of CC-DB said in Parliament's lobby on Friday. He underscored that the topic was part of the failed cabinet-forming negotiations between his parliamentary group and GERB-UDF.

"They refused to put this topic on Parliament's agenda. Today, when we have no commitment to a majority, we can calmly present it [the topic] to society, because it should know why Bulgaria provided a start of the war in Ukraine, why Bulgaria gave Russia that opportunity. Bulgarian citizens should know why BGN 3 billion were spent on a Russian pipe that will transit Russian gas. All facts and circumstances should be established in relation to the bidding procedures and the construction of the gas pipeline, because there are many serious suspicions for violations. It should be seen whether he have gotten ourselves into a heavy dependence," Sabrutev said.

Commenting on the draft resolution, Temenouzhka Petkova MP of GERB-UDF said it is a lie that the gas pipeline topic was on the agenda of the government-forming negotiations. "They [CC-DB] call it TurkStream, for some unknown reason. If they intent to conduct investigations into TurkStream, they should turn to the corresponding bodies of the Republic of Turkiye, to request what they need. It is high time they learned that the project is called Balkan Stream," Petkova stressed.

Balkan Stream is a gas pipeline on Bulgaria's territory that allows the transition of natural gas from Turkiye to Serbia.
