Two parliamentary parties, There Is Such a People (TISP) and Vazrazhdane, will challenge the December 20 amendments to the Bulgarian Constitution with a petition to the Constitutional Court on Thursday. The reasoning is being written jointly by the parties' law experts, TISP Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov said on bTV on Wednesday.

According to Yordanov, none of the amendments is useful, they are all poorly thought-through, and some of them are unconstitutional or adopted after procedural violations.

He warned: "Bulgaria risks having two parliaments at once, that is what they wrote [in the Constitution]. It will be possible to have a new National Assembly while the previous one keeps functioning too, which is absolute nonsense."

Asked why TISP is challenging the constitutional amendments, given that President Rumen Radev already did that on Monday, Yordanov said their reasons are different and more numerous than those of the president.
