site.btaParliament Ratifies Agreement for Acquisition of Stryker Combat Vehicles for Land Forces
Parliament ratified Friday an agreement for acquisition of Stryker combat vehicles. The ratification went through on 148-53 votes and five abstentions.
The international agreement (LOA) BU-B-UCP was put to first and second - conclusive - vote during the same sitting of the legislature.
The agreement is for acquisition of 198 combat and service vehicles needed for the formation of mechanized-battalion-size battlegroups. The estimated project implementation cost is USD 1.376 billion (equivalent to USD 2,504,320,000) before VAT. Of this, USD 1.210 billion (BGN 2.02 billion pre-VAT) is for the acquisition of the 198 vehicles. The cost for artillery and small arms is estimated at USD 65 million (BGN 118. 3 million) and for Javelin anti-tank guided missiles at USD 101 million (BGN 183.8 million).
