The Counter-Corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission is investigating Deputy Minister of Environment Toma Belev for conflict of interest. Besides him, the executive director of Kozloduy NPP Nasko Mihov and his deputy Alexander Nikolov are being checked, the commission said on Wednesday.
The signal against Belev was based on the fact that he remains chairman of the management board of the Association of Parks in Bulgaria.
The proceedings for conflict of interest against the management of the nuclear power plant are based on a signal for concluding contracts with companies indirectly related to them.
The Commission fined Galin Nikolov, until recently executive director of the Fishery and Aquaculture Agency, 5,000 leva for cronyism.
The Commission also said that it is filing claims in various courts in the country for the forfeiture of illegally acquired property worth over 25 million leva. One of the cases is related to Georgi Popov, accused of being part of the criminal group of Dubai-based gambling mogul Vassil Bojkov.
