Türkiye reported an annual inflation rate of 35.41% in May, according to the Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber, citing data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. This marks a slight decrease compared to April, when annual inflation stood at 37.8%.

On a monthly basis, inflation in May was 1.5%. Since December 2024, consumer prices have increased by 15.0%.

The highest annual increase was recorded in the education sector, with prices rising by 71.6%. Housing and utilities expenses increased by 67.4%. Food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a 32.87% rise.

The smallest annual price increases were observed in clothing and footwear (14.12%), communications (19.2%), and transportation (24.5%).

On a monthly basis, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.71% in May. Transportation costs rose by 2.66%, and housing and utilities expenses increased by 2.99% compared to April.
