site.btaB9 Defence Ministers to Meet in Bucharest on September 18
A meeting of the defence ministers of the countries participating in the Bucharest 9 (B9) initiative will take place on September 18 at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest, the Romanian Ministry of National Defence was quoted as saying by Agerpres on Friday.
The agenda of the meeting includes topics such as the regional security situation in the context of the Russian war against Ukraine, the implications of this conflict for Euro-Atlantic security, NATO and EU support for the Black Sea Region, as well as measures to strengthen NATO's deterrent and defensive position in the Eastern flank in view of the preparations for the next meeting of defence ministers in an allied format.
Established at the initiative of Romania and Poland, the B9 format offers a platform for deepening dialogue and cooperation between the participating allies. The nine countries participating in the format are Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia.
