The traffic at some of the Bulgarian border crossing points (BCPs) with Romania, Serbia and Turkiye is heavy, the General Directorate of Border Police - Ministry of Interior reported on the website of the department. The information is as of 6:00 a.m.

On the border with Romania, traffic at the Vidin, Kardam, Oryahovo, Nikopol and Durankulak checkpoints is heavy at the exit for trucks. As of 8 a.m. on September 9, the ferry platform at the Oryahovo BCP will cease operation due to the low level of the Danube.

Due to extensive repairs on the Bulgarian side of the Danube Bridge in Ruse, a single-lane traffic management system controlled by traffic lights has been put into effect temporarily. Besides the Ruse checkpoint, drivers in the area have alternative options, including the Silistra, Kardam, Durankulak, Kainardzha, and Krushari checkpoints. Kainardzha and Krushari operate from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily and do not allow freight vehicles, the Border Police added.

Traffic at the border with Greece is normal at all BCPs. In view of the significantly increased number of Romanian tourists travelling to and from Greece passing through the Kulata and Makaza BCPs, the Border Police recommends the use of alternative crossing points at the Bulgarian-Greek border, which are less congested and allow faster crossing. Tourists travelling to resorts in the area of Thessaloniki, Kavala and the Halkidiki peninsula can pass through the Ilinden BCP as an alternative to the Kulata BCP. Tourists travelling to resorts in the area of Xanthi, Komotini and Thassos island can use Zlatograd BCP as an alternative to Makaza BCP. For resorts in the area of Alexandroupolis, it is recommended to pass through the Captain Petko Voyvoda BCP. Only cars and vans are allowed to pass through the Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad border crossing points.

Traffic is heavy at the Kalotina BCP at the border with Serbia for trucks.

At the border with North Macedonia, traffic is normal at all border crossing points. There may be difficulties at the crossing of the Gyueshevo BCP due to activities related to the construction of the EU Entry/Exit System.

At the border with Turkiye, traffic is heavy at the entry of cars at Captain Andreevo and Lesovo BCPs.
