There Is Such a People (TISP) political party demanded in a statement that Culture Minister Nayden Todorov to immediately transfer the allocated in State Budget funds for Bulgarian Cultural Information Centre in Skopje. “We remind the executive that it is obliged to implement National Assembly decisions because we are still a parliamentary republic, not a ministerial one”, said Thursday TISP Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov.

Yordanov pointed out that during the State Budget adoption, all MPs voted to allocate an additional BGN 1 million for the activities of the Bulgarian Cultural Information Centre in Skopje. In his words, the Ministry has not transferred anything yet.

Despite the lack of sufficient funds, the cultural programmes were partially implemented in the mentioned period, which puts the Centre in an extremely difficult situation in front of its partners and at the same time undermines the prestige of Bulgaria, Yordanov noted. “The cultural centres are in debt and our country looks like an unreliable payer”, he added.

TISP Floor Leader said that he visited Ohrid two weeks ago and the windows of Bulgarian Cultural Centre were covered with thick blinds. "There is no Bulgarian flag, there is not even a hint of what this room represents, there is no inscription, no poster, nothing. Why? Because of fear of terror. The Bulgarian State has abandoned Centre’s protection and the people there are managing as best they can by hiding”, Yordanov said.
