site.btaUndeclared Currency Worth Nearly BGN 200,000 Seized at Bulgarian-Romanian Border

Cash totalling EUR 100,000, equivalent to BGN 195,583, has been found hidden on board a truck entering Bulgaria en route from Poland during a customs inspection at the Dunav Most 2 Checkpoint on Bulgaria's border with Romania near Vidin, the Customs Agency said in a press release on Friday.

The driver of the truck has been charged with an administrative offence under the Foreign Exchange Act.

According to data from a BTA reference on the Customs Agency official website, this is the fifth foiled attempt for smuggling undeclared cash through the Dunav Most 2 border checkpoint since the beginning of 2023. The total amount found is equivalent to BGN 1,93 mln.
