Three Bulgarian citizens were detained for disturbing public order at the Deve Bair checkpoint on the North Macedonia border with Bulgaria on Saturday, said the Interior Ministry in Skopje quoted by the MIA news agency.

The three men, identified as G. Z., A.H. and R.H., behaved disrespectfully and verbally abused border officials and tried to attack police officers. They have been detained until the case is clarified, MIA said quoting a police official.

Poliece control at the Deve Bair checkpoint has been strengthened since Saturday morning because of organized groups of Bulgarian citizens on their way to visit the grave of revolutionary Gotse Delchev in Skopje to pay tribute for his 151st birth anniversary, MIA says.

Cross-border traffic between the two countries was disrupted for three hours earlier on Saturday due to what the North Macedonia authorities said was a technical glitch.
