The Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature, May 24, has been officially declared Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, said the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Toronto.
A document was signed by the Mayor of Niagara Falls Jim Diodati at the end of last week.
The team of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Toronto noted that the celebration of Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day in Niagara Falls will mark the beginning of a series of events by the Consulate General plans in celebration of May 24.
"So far, there have been no similar initiatives in the city's municipal practice and Bulgaria is among the first countries that can boast of its own cultural heritage day, celebrated in Niagara Falls," said Consul General Velislava Panova, adding, "the official proclamation of the Bulgarian Cultural Heritage Day will take place through one of the events we plan to hold in connection with the celebration of the Bulgarian alphabet."
