Ways to promote tourism cooperation between Bulgaria and Austria, with a focus on cultural exchange and staff training, were discussed between Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh and Austrian Ambassador to Bulgaria Andrea Ikic-Bohm, the Tourism Ministry reported on Wednesday. They looked ahead to the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region in 2026.

The Austrian model of dual education, which successfully combines theoretical learning and apprenticeship, was high on the agenda of the meeting. The minister and the diplomat also paid attention to the promotion of specialized forms of tourism such as wine, food and cultural tourism and the planning of advertising campaigns for various target audiences.

Ikic-Bohm shared her personal impressions of Bulgarian cities and noted the tourism potential of places like Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Burgas and Varna, which, she said, impress visitors with their atmosphere, history and events.
