Bulgaria will have a national pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka from April 13 to October 13, the Tourism Ministry said in a press release Monday. The pavilion will be of the highest, A type on an area of 376 sq m, with a concept integrating the past, present and future. Bulgarian students, selected from Tourism and Japanese Studies programmes across Bulgaria, will work inside.

All universities in the country offering these two programmes are invited to submit their applications. The Tourism Ministry will select sixty students to work in the pavilion for six months on a rotational basis.

World Expo 2025 is expected to be attended by over 28 million people, 90% of whom will be from Japan. Bulgaria hopes to welcome a significant number of them to its own pavilion, which will be open to visitors 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 27 weeks.

All exhibitors will have the opportunity to present their best practices and achievements falling within the thematic focus of the respective week. Bulgarian municipalities are also invited to participate with presentations, information events or joint activities with their Japanese sister cities or partners, in one of the thematic weeks.

There is a designated Bulgaria Day, which will be on May 18. It also requires a more special programme, which is being worked on specifically, said Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (BSMEPA) Executive Director Boyko Takov during his first working meeting with Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh.

The Tourism Ministry is part of an interministerial working group that takes all decisions on the organisation of the Bulgarian participation in World Expo 2025. The main coordinator for the country's participation is the BSMEPA under the Ministry of Innovation and Growth.
