The Military Medical Academy (MMA) hosted an international forum on optimization of military medical training and enhancement of medical units' operational readiness, the MMA press service said on Sunday.
Eleven countries—Bulgaria, the United States of America, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Croatia, and Montenegro—showcased their skills at the Military Medical Simulation Training Centre.
The workshop was designed to allow military medics to share experiences, discuss best practices, and enhance interoperability. "We view this event as a major accomplishment, showing that MMA is not just a hub for scientific activities but also for military training, acknowledged at the highest level," said head of the Military Medical Academy, Major General Ventsislav Mutafchiyski.
The forum centered on training programs and simulated real-life crisis scenarios. The knowledge and skills acquired through these simulations offer invaluable experience to military medics, equipping them to provide medical assistance during real operations carried out by the Armed Forces.
Participants demonstrated state-of-the-art military medical training programmes from their respective countries. The event culminated in a demonstration exercise highlighting practical skills in a simulated combat environment.
Representatives from the Tennessee National Guard and the United States Army Europe and Africa commended the capabilities of Bulgaria’s Military Medical Simulation Training Centre and its outstanding training facilities.
MMA is a healthcare institution with a long tradition in patient care, medical research, and training medical professionals. In 2017, the hospital introduced joint training for cadets specialising as military doctors, in partnership with the Medical University of Varna and the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, MMA says on its website.
