The play Roaming around Brodsky, written and directed by Snezhina Petrova, will be presented on February 7 at The Red House, a centre for culture and debate in Sofia.
It is a project of the Theatre of New Bulgarian University (NBU) which explores the world of Joseph Brodsky (1940-1996), the Russian-born American poet who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1987 and is considered one of the most influential poets of the 20th century. The play is about the contrast between inner freedom and the outer limitations of the time we live in, The Red House said. The cast is comprised of NBU students.
The February programme of The Red House also includes the plays The Elevator by 20th-century Bulgarian dissident writer Georgi Markov (February 9) and Line of the Sun by Polish playwright Ivan Vyrypaev (February 14).
